OVERCOMING CHALLENGES COLLECTIVELY

In March 2022 , Azerbaijan cut off Artsakh ’ s natural gas supply and obstructed repairs for three weeks , forcing schools to close temporarily and leaving a majority of the population without heating . In response to the energy crisis , we launched the Heaters for Artsakh crowdfunding campaign , which in just five days raised over $ 10,000 to purchase 190 heaters for schools in Artsakh .
To understand the evolving needs of school communities in Artsakh amidst tensions with Azerbaijan , the Artsakh Regional Team collaborated with the Artsakh State Minister and the Artsakh Ministry of Education , Science , Culture , and Sports to conduct qualitative research through a listening tour , divided into two parts : Focus-Group Discussions from February to March 2022 , and the Artsakh Education Forum in May 2022 .
During the Focus-Group Discussions , input was collected from approximately 560 community members in 23 communities , including students , parents , and teachers . Sub-questionnaires were used to address the educational needs of Artsakh ' s past , present , and future . Data collected during the discussions
