Emergency Education Response
After the November 2020 ceasefire , Teach For Armenia mobilized an Emergency Education Response for conflict-affected students . Between November 2020 and June 2021 , Teach For Armenia recruited a team of nearly 60 Emergency Education Responders to provide students with wraparound services . Taking place in after-school settings , these services included tutoring , extracurricular activities , field trips , an introduction to Change-Based Learning , and access to psychosocial support . The team consisted of Emergency Education Specialists , Managers , and Assistants . Emergency Education Specialist and Manager positions were open to Teach For Armenia Alumni-Ambassadors . Twelve of the Emergency Education Assistants were themselves displaced teachers from Artsakh . Eleven Emergency Education Responders went on to apply to Teach For Armenia ’ s Leadership Development Program in 2021 .
Emergency Education Responders worked with displaced students in eight regions of Armenia , plus Yerevan and Artsakh . Through the initiative , we partnered with 75 schools , reached a total of 1,800 students , and an average of 800 students daily . By June , our Emergency Education Response supported one out of every six students displaced from Artsakh in Armenia . Through Change- Based Learning , students worked collaboratively to design 130 Student-Led Innovation Projects . Of those proposals , 20 were semi-finalists and three received funding to be implemented by June 2022 . In the spring , students returned to Artsakh in higher numbers and the beneficiaries of our Emergency Education Response in Armenia decreased . We wrapped up the initiative in Armenia in May and continued to serve students in Artsakh until June .
