in Amberd village in Braille , Armenian , Russian , and English . Through diverse projects like these , Change-Based Learning has put students in the driver ’ s seat to discover their agency and spark change across the nation .
As part of a broader partnership with UNICEF Armenia , Teach For Armenia received funding to implement eight Student-Led Innovation Projects with a gender equality focus . One hundred twenty-one students from four regions of Armenia participated in these projects over the course of the 2020-2021 school year . One of the projects , “ Hyun ,” was led by Teacher-Leader Nelly Grigoryan in Nerkin Karmiraghbyur , a village on the border with Azerbaijan in the Tavush region . The project developed entrepreneurial skills among 25 students through soap production . Together , they brainstormed the concept , designed a project plan , and formulated a budget . Students learned how to make soap with real flowers from local gardens and fields . Once they had a product , students designed the packaging and developed a marketing plan to advertise and sell their soap .
“ Many beautiful flowers grow in our village . By using them to make natural soaps , we created something organic and healthy for the skin . I even made a bar of soap for my family . They all loved it . Through “ Hyun ,” our Student-Led Innovation Project , my classmates and I learned how to build a business with local resources .”
