competencies among students : self-awareness , self-management , social-awareness , and responsible decision-making . At the end of three weeks , we observed a 9 % increase in self-awareness alone .
Meanwhile , the Student Voice Rubric is used to measure growth in the student ’ s ability to express their opinions and influence others . The intent behind the tool is to measure whether we have been able to amplify the voices of our students over time . The rubric was used on the first and last day of camp , in order to determine growth across core competency areas , including : Idea , Word Choice , Fluency , Organization , and Assertiveness . By the end of the camp , our students grew by nearly a full level on a five-point scale .
Additionally , we confirmed that Change-Based Learning not only has a positive impact on a student ’ s leadership development , it also improves academic outcomes . Through subject-specific assessments administered at the beginning and end of the camp , we saw a 20 % increase in critical thinking across all content areas as well as an average mastery rate of 82 %.
Lastly , in order to ensure a fair and rigorous selection process for microgrant award winners , Teach For Armenia also developed a Project Proposal Rubric , which evaluated all proposals across six domains : Theory of Change , Co-Creation , Research , Timeline , Budget , and Presentation . In the end , we received inspiring video pitches for Community Impact Projects from 50 student groups . We awarded 24 microgrants for groups to implement their projects , one from each of the participating schools . These microgrants were sponsored through our partnership with Ucom as well as DP DHL ’ s Go Teach program . Most importantly , we crystalized the idea that our communities are full of infinite possibilities , and that our students have the power to unlock that potential .
