to a nutrition counselor, and I immediately started working with her. I had
never been fully “aware” of the things that I was putting into my body, so my
consultations were a real eye-opener for me. Taking a lot of processed foods
out of my everyday life helped me attain my goal after only 6 months. At first, I
was only comfortable with cardio workouts; however, as I started working out
more, I eventually added weight training into my regime, which helped me to
change even more. If anyone had told me last summer that I would be teaching
any sort of exercise classes—let alone something titled “Bootcamp”—I would
have told them that they were nuts! In fact, when I went to TDF Bootcamp
Certification in November, I honestly said a few dozen times on the way to
Wisconsin that I wasn’t even sure why I was going; I would probably never
even teach a class! However, I now teach three days a week!
I have known Kara for a few years prior to
cofounding Pixie Power Fitness with her,
but some time last year we just clicked, and our friendship blossomed from
acquaintances to #SSBFFs—Sweaty Sister BFFs! We became workout/
accountability partners, and we have both absolutely killed our personal
goals with the encouragement that we gave each other. It seems only
natural that our friendship would eventually take the next step: We became
business partners. My dad passed away very recently, and the things that
Kara has done for me go above and beyond a “business partner” or a “best
friend;” she is truly my family.
To me, Pixie Power Fitness means always having someone there for me,
someone to encourage me and to help keep me on track. That is what Kara
is to me, and it is my hope that with Pixie Power Fitness I can be that to
others, too. Having someone always on your side is such an empowering
experience. It’s reassuring to know that I can always count on Kara to pick
me up when I’m down, to kick my butt when I need someone to,
and to cover for me and help me out. One of our goals with Pixie
Power Fitness is to encourage everyone, to empower women
and girls, and to help them recognize that they are worthy! This
summer we will be launching our day camps for pre-teen girls,
and we will be working on body and self-esteem issues, as well as
fitness related to that age group. We are hoping to teach girls at
this age that they don’t have to be “mean girls” to get ahead.
I became friends with Crystal Honeycutt through another page. I
have followed her from the beginning—before she re-launched
her business—when she was just starting out as Crystal Honeycutt
Fitness. I love everything that Train Dirty Fitness (TDF) stands for,
and I wholeheartedly support the ideals that she has worked so
hard to realize, such as promoting that idea that everyone is good
enough. I became a TDF
Ambassador during the first round of applications, and in November
of last year I decided further her cause by becoming a Bombshell. Not only has being a Bombshell helped me
with Pixie Power Fitness, but it has also helped me as a hairstylist/salon owner as well. The TDF Bombshells
program is completely “go at your own pace,” and it has so much useful information regarding how to begin
and maintain a business, including the importance of self-promotion. The video and email, in collusion with
the assignments, work well as a whole. One of the most important things that I’ve taken from the Bombshells
program is something that is repeatedly emphasized throughout:
“Know your worth.”
