The CCC meets with the Wilsonville mayor
On Sept . 17 , the CCC Board invited Wilsonville Mayor Julie Fitzgerald to Charbonneau to discuss various issues of concern
SWITZER to our community .
CCC President Gary Newbore led the discussion , which included our appreciation for the city ’ s incredible work after the February ice storm and the city ’ s continued challenge of the Oregon Department of Aviation ’ s efforts to expand the Aurora Airport without following relevant land use laws .
The mayor took a short tour along French Prairie Drive , Old Farm Road and Arbor Lake Drive . We discussed the need for the repainting of crosswalks and pedestrian safety in general , as well as the utility work being done on

Thankful for the Solo Sisters group
In 1972 , my husband and I moved to San Diego from the northeast . Antsy to live in California , he asked his golf buddies which city to move to and when they said to start at the southern end of the state and move north if you have to , that is what we did . I did not want to leave my parents and siblings in New England and move west . But I did . Ten years and three children later , I was divorced , a single mom and lonely . All my friends were married and there was very little social life that I was included in . I raised my family ,

Other topics included an update on the city ’ s transportation plan and the consolidated improvement plan , the city and county ’ s efforts on the widening of the I-5 Boone Bridge , and the location of the proposed pedestrian bridge across the Willamette River .
The CCC Board will continue to work with the city ’ s staff , specifically the city manager in addressing the issues that concern our community .
2022 redistricting complete
The Oregon Legislature passed the 2022 congressional and state Legislature redistricting bills . Because of population changes , Oregon gained a congressional seat ( now six seats ). Charbonneau will be in the new District 6 , which of course , does not yet have an incumbent . In the state Legislature , CCC was moved to House District 26 and Senate District 13 . District 26 already includes the rest of the city of Wilsonville . Currently , Rep . Courtney Neron holds the seat . We have expressed our appreciation to Rep . Drazen , our current legislator , for her efforts on our behalf . We also met with Rep . Neron in August before the new plan was approved in order to establish clear lines of communication .

Fast forward about 35 years . It ’ s the summer of 2016 , I was newly retired , had sold my home in San Diego and had bought a townhouse , sight unseen , in the Pacific Northwest in Charbonneau , whatever that was ! My daughter and her family lived happily nearby in Villabois , but aside from them , I knew no one ! Two months after my arrival , there was a Community Information Day at the Charbonneau clubhouse and while there , I heard about a group called Charbonneau Singles . I tracked them down and joined them . And the rest is history . Charbonneau Singles morphed into Solo Sisters , and suddenly I had lots of friends and my calendar slowly filled with many fun things to do . I
