Volunteer Highlight
'I'm Carrig Clark, the Head Coach of the Auchterarder High
School Basketball Team. I enjoy volunteering to coach the
school team as I love to pass on my knowledge and
understanding of basketball onto other keen players. I have
coached the team for 2-3 years now and the numbers
attending training have reached as high as 30 pupils during
this period. For a minority sport within the school, it is
amazing to see such interest in this sport. Having played for
Perth Phoenix Basketball Team for 8 years now as well as
having the privilege to represent my nation, I use this
experience and knowledge to educate these pupils and try
to get the best of their potential from them. Sadly this is
my last year as coach as I depart the school on other
journeys and would like to thank Mr Kinross (PE) and Lisa
Mackay (Active Schools) for their assistance with
supporting myself and the team throughout.'

Girls After School Football Club
TCSoA’s S1 - S3 Girls Football team was established a couple of months ago when S4 pupils
Chelsea and Sadie expressed their interest in coaching a girl’s football team. They created
a poster which they copied and put up all around the school, as well as talking to pupils to
encourage them to come along. The girls train every Monday after school at 3.45 -
4.45pm. Active Schools supported the team and they have just received new strips which
the senior pupils designed. The girls played their first friendly game on Monday 12 March
against Crieff High School and although they didn’t win they all put on a great perform-
ance for such a new team. The team has grown from an initial five players to its current
ten players and we are hoping that it will continue to grow over the year. It’s fantastic
volunteers such as Chelsea and Sadie that make these Clubs possible and give our pupils
such a great opportunity. Great work girls.
