Who let the choir out? (By Aimee P7)
Auchterarder Primary School Glee choir will reach its 2 nd anniversary this year. In that time
the choir has continually hit the high notes.
The Glee Club started within the school choir, but both were so popular that separate
groups of talented singers were formed in 2017. Who will be able to challenge their vocal
chords when we compete in the Perth and Kinross Council’s annual competition?
Primary Teacher, Miss Wallace, leader of the group, decided to split the pupils into Glee
and School Choirs. At present the Glee Choir is not able to welcome in any more pupils as
they have over 30 members. However, after the Easter holiday, the School Choir will be
looking for new recruits, so get practising!
Miss Wallace works in harmony with Miss Johnston, P7 Teacher, and together they are
aiming to lead us to our victory (hopefully) at the Glee Competition. This competition
started in 2015 and has been really successful.
The final competition is top secret but I can
let you in on a secret about what all Glee
Clubs will be singing ……. and it is Shakira’s,
‘Try Everything’.
Miss Wallace would like the Glee choir to
present to the rest of the school our show-
stoppers. She hopes to introduce more
singers to the spotlight next year. If you
would like to be in our choir and can’t wait
till next year, you are welcome to join the
School Choir during the Summer term this
year. This invitation is extended to all
children in P1 to P7.
TCSoA World Down Syndrome Day (by Ben West P4M)
On Wednesday 21 March, pupils and staff were celebrating World Down Syndrome Day by
wearing odd socks. The date was chosen because people with Down Syndrome have an
extra chromosome on the 21st strand.
P4M organised the day by making
reminder videos, posters, sock puppets
and going round the classes to share
information about #LotsofSocks Day
2018. On the day almost all pupils and
staff wore odd, coloured or patterned
socks. Courtney (P4M) commented, “I
loved wearing odd socks to raise
awareness for World Down Syndrome
Day.”
P4M hope to see lots more odd socks
next year. Thank you to everyone who
supported the celebrations for World
Down Syndrome Day.
