MEET THE PARTICIPANTS
CAVAN HALLMAN
THE GIRL WONDER
At TCR, Cavan appeared as
Gordon in Dead Man’s Cell Phone
in addition to teaching scriptwriting
and “Let’s Get Lit.” In Cedar Rapids,
he has written and directed for
Playtime Poppy, worked as a guest
artist with SPT, and performed his
solo show at Raygun in NewBo.
He has served as adjunct faculty
for the University of New Orleans
and written and performed in
NYC, Chicago, New Orleans, and
Ireland.
MIA HUXLEY
THE GIRL WONDER
Mia is a nerd through and through.
Video games, comics, Dungeons
& Dragons, basically anything that
would get you called a loser in high
school. She is both relieved and
slightly let down that there is no
danger of accidentally killing herself
in this show, unlike the last one. This
is the second show by Taylor James
Foster she has been in. She also
recommends you watch the new
season of Adventure Time if you
haven’t yet.
EMILY IRWIN
THE COUNSELORS
Emily is excited to join the Festival
for her second year. Most recently,
she appeared in Revival Theatre
Company’s Victor/Victoria and
Brucemore Outdoor Children’s
Theatre’s Alice in Wonderland.
When she’s not onstage or working
in the wings, Emily can be found
process engineering at Ingredion,

dusting off her tap dancing skills, or
hanging out with her tubby tabby
cat. Much love and many thanks to
her family and friends.
JOE JENNISON
CONFESSIONS OF A GAY
CATHOLIC
Joe’s plays have been staged in
Cedar Rapids, Chicago, Iowa City,
Los Angeles, Minneapolis, and
San Francisco. Confessions of a
Gay Catholic is his first one-man
show, and would not exist without
Brian Markowski, James Cannon,
Lisbon Library, the Black Doggers,
Dreamwell Theatre, MVLCT, Giving
Tree Theater, Goatsinger Show,
Riverside Theatre, Theatre Cedar
Rapids, and Palisades Pen – thank
you for your support!
ZACHARY JOHNSON
THE NIGHT THE LIGHTS WENT
OUT IN NASA
A participant in the community
arts scene for over two decades,
Zachary is thrilled to be returning
to the Underground Festival as a
director. When not directing, he is
also a regular performing member
of TCR’s improvisational comedy
team, JOYRIDE and an occasional
teacher of improv comedy. He
thanks each and every one of you
for your patronage and hopes that
you continue to support the arts.
ZACH CROIX KELCHEN
THE COUNSELORS
Zach is a debut director. He is very
busy at the moment.
