ALVON REED
CHOREOGRAPHER
Alvon is a teacher, dancer, and choreographer. Alvon currently serves
as the Dance Artist-in-Residence at Cornell College. Alvon was a
fellowship student at The Ailey School and The Milwaukee Ballet School.
Alvon’s performance credits include Nike, PUMA, Levi’s Jeans, Microsoft,
Norwegian Cruise Lines, Inland Pacific Ballet, Nevada Ballet Theatre,
Opus Dance Theatre, and Jennifer Muller/The Maurice Hines. Alvon
performed in Arena Stages first multi-ethnic production of Oklahoma
under the direction of Molly Smith. He also performed at the world-
renowned Apollo Theatre with tap dancing legend, Marion Schoevaert
and Othello with Eloy Barragán. Choreographic credits include Shrek
the Musical, Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Sister Act, Peter Pan, and
Newsies with Theatre Cedar Rapids. Additional choreographic credits
include American Idiot for the Department of Theatre at The University of
Iowa, Hattie Mae’s Juke Joint (an original musical about juke joint life in
post-war America), Evita, Ragtime the Musical, and 9 to 5 with Revival
Theatre Company. For the Department of Theatre and Dance at Cornell
College, he has choreographed productions of Rent, Rocky Horror
Picture Show, and Ascension. This fall, Alvon will be joining the faculty
in the Department of Theatre and Dance at the University of Alabama.
Alvon is also a proud member of the Actor’s Equity Association (AEA).
