MEET THE DIRECTING TEAM
Casey Prince (Director) Casey is in his tenth
year at the helm of Theatre Cedar Rapids and
Disney’s The Little Mermaid couldn’t be a more
fitting show to direct during this milestone year.
His earliest directorial experiences were in school
settings presenting family-friendly fare. When he
first guest directed at TCR, the show was Disney’s
The Jungle Book Kids. Once he started at the
theatre, his first show was Disney’s Aladdin Jr. In
fact, the first three shows Casey directed at TCR
were Disney productions - the third being High
School Musical shortly after the flood of 2008.
Top that all off with the fact that Ariel was easily
his biggest Disney princess crush when he was a
kid and it is plain to see that working on this show
at this particular moment is pretty special. Huge
kudos and thanks go out to the entire directorial
and production team for their fantastic work and
friendship, and to Lindsay, Eloise, and Phoebe,
his amazing support team (and focus group) at
home. On with the show!
Alvon Reed (Choreographer) Alvon is
incredibly excited to be choreographing his first
TCR production! Having just received his Masters
in Dance from the University of Iowa, he will be
the Artist in Residence for Cornell College this
fall. Alvon would like to thank Casey Prince and
everyone at TCR for this invaluable experience,
his family and friends for their never-ending
support, as well as Margo and Maddie Korn for
their exceptional work as assistant
choreographers.
