In order to give students wider opportunities for self-expression, the gymnasium has been involved in many national and international projects. On March 11, 2016, Jonas Jatautas was appointed director of Žalgiriai gymnasium. Currently there are 437 students and 47 teachers in the gymnasium.
Tauragė Žalgiriai Gymnasium pupils' self-government is formed by the pupils' parliament and the parliamentary council, whose work is supervised by the school's deputy Edita Butkienė. The Pupils' Parliament has regulations for all activities. The Council is made up of particularly active pupils who provide initial ideas and suggestions, solve problems and organize student parliamentary meetings. During the last and first week of each month, a general meeting takes place, during which all members discuss activities, events and achievements. Five members of the Student Council are also members of the Gymnasium Council.
The pupils' parliament can include all the willing pupils who are proactive, active, have ideas and can help to solve the problems at school and contribute to the organization of school events. All members must be exemplary and well educated.
