It all started on the 3rd of March 1972, when the 4th Secondary School was built near Oko Forest, and 1172 students and 39 teachers met September here. The school was headed by Leokadija Judelienė. The school has changed over the years – the interior was getting more beautiful, the classrooms were richer with various educating tools. A lot of work has been done by the entire team of teachers in order to make the school be proud of its artistic, academic and sporting achievements. In September 1987, Arimantas Šerlinskis, a former deputy director for education, began to lead the school. In 1996, the school was renamed Žalgiriai Secondary School.
