.Other types of glucose like high fructose corn syrup can cause cancer, diabetes, high cholesterol, asthma, heart disease, and fatty liver disease. And there are other studies that show that sugar can affect the brain like heroin or morphine can. Regulating sugar or putting a tax on it can help lower consumption of it and make more money. raising the price of a can of soda 10-12 cents would get 14 billion dollars of revenue each year. It wouldn't be a bad thing because people could get used to it. The prices wouldn't change that much and people could adjust to it. Some people also say that the sale of added-sugar food and drinks in schools should be restricted. This would help children be healthier because too much sugar could cause them obesity or diabetes. Regulating sugar would help a lot because less people would be getting sick and dying for diseases like diabetes, obesity, and heart diseases.
When i did survey asking people whether they agreed with sugar being regulated many of them said no. but they also thought that people ate too much sugar. They said that they didn't think regulating sugar would really do anything and that people would still be eating to much of it. I think this is why they didn't want it regulated because it wouldn't do any good. They did have good ideas on how to get people to eat less sugar though. people should be educated on how to eat health and be healthier, telling companies and restaurants to put less sugar in their food, companies should put more natural ingredients in their foods, and telling mothers not to give their kids too much sugar so that they don't get used to having it all the time. I think these are good ideas on ways to regulate sugar.
In conclusion regulating sugar is a good idea. There are many health benefits to doing it like people not getting diabetes, heart disease, or effecting their liver. there is research showing that sugar is harmful when people eat too much of it and theres nothing being done to regulate how much people have. It can have the same effects as tobacco or alcohol so it should be regulated like that.
