Should sugar be

regulated?

There has been a lot of controversy on whether sugar should be regulated. Based on peoples opinion and research, it shows that sugar should be regulated. There are a lot of reasons to show that sugar being regulated is a good thing. People who eat too much of it could develop health problems like diabetes or heart disease. A tax could help sugar consumption go down and lower the amount of people who get these diseases.

According to the American Heart Association the U.S adult eats 22 teaspoons of sugar every day and the world consumption of sugar has tripled over 50 years. Around 35 million people die each year of diseases of heart disease, cancer and diabetes. also too much sugar can affect your metabolism and have a role in metabolic syndromes. There are also studies that show that sugar is addictive and toxic to people. It poisons the liver, increase risk for heart disease, strokes, and diabetes, and it suppresses the dopamine system and makes people crave it more.
