Nearly a billion 884 million people do not have access to clean and safe water in the world. Thirty seven percent of those people live in Sub-Saharan Africa. One in eight people worldwide do not have access to safe and clean drinking water. Twenty-one million, six-hundred thousand people die from not having access to clean water worldwide. Four hundred and fourty three million school days are lost each year due to water-related diseases (The Water Project).
Tanzania is recognizing the problems that are caused by diseased water. Organizations like the Water Project and WaterAid help raise money to put water wells so they can have clean water. They are both trying to fundraise to make water wells so people in Tanzania can access clean water. All the money goes towards building wells, dams and rain catchment systems so they can access clean water. The Water Project also has an interesting way to donate. You drink water for two weeks straight, add up how much you would have drank, and send in the amount. They give it to people in Africa. The WaterAid project helps bring people in Africa safe water and toilets. They have sponsors and solicit donations to help fundraise for clean water.
