Cinemalaya 2018 opens at CCP
with Erik Matti’s ’BuyBust’

The annual ceremony of Cinemalaya Philippine Independent
Film Festival formally opened on Friday, August 3 at the Cultural
Center of the Philippines.

”The challenge is the same. How to tell a story, how to
tell the unique voice to tell the story, how to extract the value out
of a unique experience and how to communicate to the audience”,
said Laurice Guillen, President of Cinemalaya in her speech for
the opening remark of the Festival. She also thanked the audience
for their support for the festival.

The 14th film festival was opened with the Action
Thriller movie ’BuyBust’ by the award winning director, Erik
Matti. The film is about the anti-drug enforcement agency that
stages a massive drug bust in the slums of Manila.

The lead star Anne Curtis with the other cast and crew
of the action movie made an appearance for the opening film.
Due to prior commitments, Matti wasn’t able to attend with the
cast.

”Sobra na makadama ng ganoong klaseng suporta sa
Filipino film at action film pa (It’s overwhelming to feel that kind
of suppot for a Filipino film and an action film at that)....I hope
you enjoyed the film.” said Anne in her short message for the
audience. The actress was so overwhelmed by the praises they
received by the crowd after watching the film.

The ’BuyBust’ cast also received a plaque of
appreciation from Cinemalaya.

With its latest theme, ’Wings of Vision’, this years’
Cinemalaya will screen 10 full-length films and 10 short films.

The film festival will run from August 3 to 12 at various
venues of the CCP and selected Ayala Mall Cinemas.

ang napag-alamang mahigit 25 taon nang naglilikongkod
bilang mga volunteer workers sa kani-kanilang mga barangay.
Pinakamatagal sa serbisy bilang BNS sina Maxima Saludo
Leyesa ng Brgy. San Isidro at Imelda Garcia Melo ng Brgy. Pag-
olingin East, kapwa ng Lungsod ng Lipa, na 38 nang nagbibigay
ng serbisyo publiko sa kanilang mga ka-barangay. Samantala,
nag-kampeon sa Vegetables and Fruits Booth Presentation ang
2nd District.

Naging bahagi rin ng programa ang isang forum, kung
saan tinalakay ang Organic Agriculture at Organic Vegetable
Production and Preparation of Concoctions ng mga kawani ng
Office of the Provincial Agriculturist; at presentasyon ng mga
batang sumailalim sa 2017 Provincial Supplementary Feeding
Program.

Alinsunod sa Presidential Decree No. 491 of 1974 o
Nutrition Act of the Philippines, ang buwan ng Hulyo bawat
taon ay itinakda ng pamahalaan bilang Nutrition Month. Ang
taunang pagdiriwang ng Buwan ng Nutrisyon ay isinasagawa
upang mabigyang atensyon at mapukaw ang kamalayan ng mga
Pilipino sa kahalagahan ng wasto at sapat na nutrisyon sa ating
katawan.

Sa ika-44 na paglulunsad ng Nutrition Month sa
bansa, ang National Nutrition Council (NNC) ay nagsusulong
sa selebrasyon na may temang “Ugaliing magtanim, Sapat
na nutrisyon aanihin!”. Ang temang ito ay nakatutok sa Food
Gardening o ang pagtatanim ng mga gulay, punong kahoy, prutas
at iba pa sa tahanan sa pamamagitan ng sariling hardin o bakuran
para magkaroon ng sapat na pagkain sa mga hapag kainan.

Nakiisa sa programa sina 1st District Board Members
Jun-Jun Rosales at Glenda Bausas, kung saan ipinakita nila ang
kanilang suporta sa adhikain na mapabuti ang kalusugan ng
bawat isang mamamayang Batangueño. Dumalo rin sa awarding
ceremony sina Taysan Vice Mayor Marianito Perez at Lobo

Farmers’ Field School for Good
Agricultural Practices ginanap
sa Batangas Provincial Agri
MATAGUMPAY na nakatapos sa labing anim na
linggong pagsasanay ang 27 farm workers ng Office of the
Provincial Agriculture (OPA) sa ilalim ng Farmers Field
School for Good Agricultural Practices on Vegetables.

Ang pagsasanay na magkabalikat na isinagawa
ng Pamahalaang Panlalawigan ng Batangas, sa
pangunguna ng Tanggapan ng Panlalawigang Agrikultor,
at ng Agricultural Training Institute ay naglalayong
madagdagan ang kaalaman ng mga farm workers na ito sa
pagtatanim at pag-aalaga ng mga gulayan mula sa tamang
pagpili ng mga gagamiting binhi, pagtatanim , mga wasto
at organikong pataba hanggang sa pag-aani.

Sa isinagawang Graduation Ceremony noong
ika-9 ng Agosto 2018 sa Demo Farm ng OPAg, Diversion
Road, Bolbok, Batangas City, ipinahayag ni Assistant
Provincial Agriculturist Celia Tenorio na ang mga
nagsipagtapos ang siya namang sunod na magtuturo at
aagapay sa mga magsasaka ng lalawigan sa mga wasto at
makabagong pamamaraan ng pagtatanim ng gulay.

Ang kursong ito ay siyang naglilinang sa mga
vegetable trainers na mangunguna sa pagpapatupad ng mga
components at mga bagong teknolohiya ng High Value
Crops Development Program upang makapagbahagi ng
kaalaman sa mga lokal na magsasaka sa buong lalawigan.
Ang pagsasanay ding ito ay makakatulong sa pagsasaayos
ng proseso sa pag-preserba ng mga prutas at gulay para
mas maging kapakipakinabang kapag dinala na ang mga
