Of course, the ultimate goal of our fundraising activities is to raise the money that supports the Bar Association’ s signature programs and the Foundation’ s annual grants program. The Association’ s Summer Law Internship Program, which is funded by the Foundation, welcomed its 38th class of high schoolers. Led by the incomparable Wade Malone from Nelson Mullins, SLIP once again provided an invaluable opportunity for high schoolers from around the state to experience life in a law firm, judge’ s chamber or corporate or government legal group. And we’ re very proud to announce that in partnership with the Lawyer’ s Information Referral Service, the Foundation provided a record-setting $ 265,000 in targeted grants in 2025 to Atlanta-area nonprofit legal organizations.
None of this could have happened without the support of our sponsors, our Board members, the staff of the Atlanta Bar Association and, most importantly, every one of you who attended one of our events, participated on one of our committees or hosted one

of our students. We are so grateful for your support and hope that will continue in 2026.
As for my unsung hero, I’ m not sure he’ s completely unsung, but I don’ t think we appreciate everything Louis Cohan does for the bar and for the legal profession. Louis is singularly responsible for the Annual Legal Runaround, which raises money every year for the bar Association’ s Police Scholarship Fund. He was also the driving force behind the successful ABA blood drive this past spring, which is just a continuation of Louis’ personal blood donations, which now number over 250! And Louis is the first, and sometimes the only person, to volunteer for the some of the thankless tasks associated with being a Bar Foundation Board member. Most importantly, I know Louis to be a person of great personal integrity. He’ ll throw himself into the causes in which he believes, and he’ s not afraid to step back from an organization when he thinks the values of that organization are misaligned with his own. He is truly a legal hero in our community.
