Atlanta Bar ’ s CLE Board of Trustees hosted its last Legends of the Bar series for the 2023 calendar year , featuring none other than the Honorable Harold Melton , on December 13 , 2023 .
Melton is a former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Georgia . He was appointed by Governor Sonny Perdue . Melton spoke about how he felt that he was not very well known in the bar at the time of his appointment , and that he did not think he fit the profile for a member of the judiciary , but he was able to successfully introduce himself to the bar and ask for support in his new judiciary role .
Melton talked about his time on the bench . He spoke about the camaraderie amongst the Justices , saying , while the Justices may have had differences of opinion , nothing was so different that they could not eat a meal
