IN THE PROFESSION
Because
of the rising need for legal help in family law matters in the Atlanta metropolitan area, the LRIS Board of Directors recently approved revamping the Modest Means Program. With this initiative, we hope to provide legal representation to individuals who trust our program and contact us to get connected to a vetted attorney, who will be willing to provide access to justice at an affordable rate. The purpose of the Atlanta Bar Association Modest Means Panel of the Lawyer Referral and Information Service is to provide affordable legal assistance to members of the public who cannot afford an attorney, but who do not qualify for free legal services. The Panel serves people whose income is greater than 175 % but no more than 300 % of the federal poverty guidelines or whose income is below the 175 % federal poverty guidelines but are ineligible for free legal services.
In this respect, we are in need of family law attorneys to join the program. The LRIS membership dues will be waived for attorneys who are active members of the Atlanta Bar Association and enroll exclusively in the Modest Means Program.
The Modest Means Program link will provide detailed information including the limited scope fee schedule as well as the hourly rate of $ 150 for full representation for family law matters.
The completed and signed Modest Means Program membership application can be sent to Lucia Keller.
