Immigration and Georgiam- A Look at Immigration Detention in the Peach State

A cursory glance at the news, particularly leading up to the elections this past November, showed that immigration is a hot topic. 1 As an immigration lawyer for the past seven years, friends and family members asked me about my thoughts about immigration and potential changes in 2025, during the past holiday season. Undoubtedly, I was not alone in listening to and talking about immigration. 2
Immigration, much like any other form of law, can be divided into different types, such as removal defense, family, business, and other specialties. Further, immigration is a complicated area of law. So complex, in fact, that Professor Yale-Loehr at Cornell stated that immigration is the second most complex area of law. 3 As someone who regularly represents clients in immigration court, advocacy with USCIS, and other immigration-related matters, I agree.
