Immigration and Georgia : A Look at Immigration Detention in the Peach State

A cursory glance at the news , particularly leading up to the elections this past November , showed that immigration is a hot topic . 1 As an immigration lawyer for the past seven years , friends and family members asked me about my thoughts about immigration and potential changes in 2025 , during the past holiday season . Undoubtedly , I was not alone in listening to and talking about immigration . 2
Immigration , much like any other form of law , can be divided into different types , such as removal defense , family , business , and other specialties . Further , immigration is a complicated area of law . So complex , in fact , that Professor Yale-Loehr at Cornell stated that immigration is the second most complex area of law . 3 As someone who regularly represents clients in immigration court , advocacy with USCIS , and other immigration-related matters , I agree .
