All 4 Teams make it through to compete for North Tyneside at the Level 3 School Games...

Over 100 budding Table Tennis players played in this year’s North Tyneside School Table Tennis Championships at John Spence on Monday 9th December.

Despite fierce competition from other schools in the borough; the four John Spence teams (under 13 Boys, under 13 Girls, under 16 Boys and under 16 Girls) won their respective competitions and all four teams went forward to represent North Tyneside in the Tyne and Wear Finals at Sandhill View School, Sunderland.

Following last year’s County Finals triumph in the under 16 boys’ competition the teams managed the following positions in the Tyne and Wear Table Tennis Finals:

Under 13 Girls - Champions

Under 16 Girls - Champions

Under 13 Boys - 3rd

Under 16 Boys - Runners Up.

North Tyneside Cross Country

On November 14th nearly all the schools in North Tyneside descended on Churchill playing fields in Whitley Bay – the occasion was the annual North Tyneside Cross Country competition. Up for grabs were the various trophies for the teams to compete for but more importantly the chance to represent North Tyneside if pupils finished in the top 12 (minors) or the top 16 (all other age groups). The team was made up mainly of the pupils who had raced before and there were a number of memorable performances. Stuart Downie led the way with a good run in the intermediates claiming 8th place overall and he was followed by a number of others who also qualified in their respective age groups. Once again it was a good turn out by the runners and Emily Cairns was especially pleased to gain her North Tyneside place after suffering an injury in the English schools cup race.
