North East Young Ambassador Conference.

John Spence student opens regional conference

Joseph Harvey a Platinum Young Ambassador from John Spence opened the North East Regional Young Ambassador Conference at Northumbria University in front of 140 delegates on Tuesday 26th November.

Director of Specialism, Bobby Graham said “I was so proud of Joe when he spoke; the content of his speech and the confidence with which he delivered it stunned everyone present. He is a fantastic role model for young people in John Spence and students from other schools across the borough”

Two former pupils Danielle Walt and Hannah Baxter now both at Tyne Met College followed Joe, interviewing former Olympic Gymnast and now BBC Commentator Craig Heap. Their interview with Craig was both inspiring and informative.

Following the opening ceremony of the conference the delegates’ nine of whom were young ambassadors from John Spence: Sean Mulligan, Matthew Robson, Abbie Reid, Emily Kelly, Kyle Thompson, Ryan Proud, Joseph Baker, Alex Anderson and Joe Steele attended a series of workshops to further develop their leadership skills.

The group who are members of the School Sports Organising have given up most of their lunchtimes since September to provide sporting opportunities for year 7 students.
