This classic Christmas drink in Trinidad is Ponche De Crème.
Known for it’s smooth texture and in some cases its subtle kick,
‘punch-ah-creme’ as most Trinis know it, is a milk drink not
straying far from what is known as eggnog. It has gained it’s
popularity for the alcohol content.
Here’s a simple recipe for this popular drink.
Ingredients
6 eggs beaten
2 teaspoons grated lime zest
3 (14ounce) cans Condensed Milk
3/4 cup evaporated milk
11/2 cups of rum
1 tablespoon bitters
1 pinch grated nutmeg
Method
1. In a large bowl beat the eggs and lime zest using an
electric mixer until light and fluffy.
2. Gradually pour in the condensed milk, then add
evaporated milk.
3. Stir in the rum and bitters. Then sprinkle the nutmeg.
