Ron Etherington.
A proud member of the ‘Saddleworth’
(established in 1950) group of painters
.
Ron has been encouraged and guided
by the well known North West Artist
John McCombs N.D.D, R.O.I, F.R.S.A,
M.A.F.A
Ron switched from painting in acrylics
to oils. This gave Ron’s work a new
way to gain depth and more subtle
changes in tonal values he could
explore and develop.
The paintings ‘Coverham Church’
and ‘River Wharfe’ are obviously
accomplished works with the painting
‘Slaithwaite Canal Path’ being
the outstanding landscape (neo-
impressionism style) of the work
shown here in TAG #3.
The artist found his subject matter in
the nature that surrounds him in the
North of England. His work projects a
calm tenderness that is very easy on
the eye and provides opportunity for
the viewer for quiet contemplation.
note:John McCombs has guided
and given art classes to many artists
practicing today including, Ann Parkin,
David Edwards, Steve Tringer, Ian
Norris and Margaret Hinchliffe all of
whom took John’s class with Ron
Ehtherington in 2010.
