in the Pinetown District selected me to become their cluster coordinator and later on I was chosen to become the lead teacher/ facilitator . The Department of Education officials (Pinetown District Languages Department) gave me an amazing opportunity to be trained and become a facilitator where I conduct English workshops for Intermediate and senior phase teacher’s workshops during winter holidays. Therefore, I would like to pass my greatest appreciation to the officials who granted such opportunities. Thank you for believing in me. Being a teacher is a full time commitment and a sacrifice on so many levels because teachers have to interact with learners at all stages of development and from all walks of life. And as such you become more than a teacher: you are a mentor, a friend, caregiver and parent. Thus, love and passion have to be part of your foundation as a teacher. Teaching is one of the most direct ways to make an impact to the community. As a teacher you have to love your work to reap the fruits. To see learners whom I taught doing great things with their lives is such a fulfilling feeling. That makes me walk tall and be proud, it inspires me to do more and upsurge the levels.

Knowledge is a powerful weapon to every life experiences so make use of it when the opportunity presents itself. Advance your skills to stay relevant in this ever changing profession.

Today I am happy to say I have taken my school KwaCutshwayo Primary School to the highest level of education together with my colleagues and the principal Mr Nzuza who is very supportive and permits us to participate in as many educational activities and competitions as possible. This has led to our school building a reputation for being one of the best schools ever in both co-curricular and extra-curricular activities in our District. My colleague (Mrs RK Mkhize) and I went as far as provincial level with Readathon activities where our learners were given an opportunity to co-host the kids show (Ukhozi Lodado) in Ukhozi FM. The show was for raising awareness about water shortage in our country after they won first prize in eThekwini Municipality competitions in 2016. So, love and passion is the key to a healthy teaching and learning lifestyle.

I have achieved so many things that I sometimes surprise myself.
