Matilda Jr .
The spotlight was on the Thornton Academy Middle School ’ s presentation of Roald Dahl ’ s Matilda The Musical JR in February . The cast and crew of 50 students presented three public shows , along with another three performances for audiences from TAMS and local elementary schools .
Based on the beloved book “ Matilda ” and adapted from the award-winning full-length musical , the production featured 7th grader Malia Collins in the title role , with 8th graders Amelie
Lourdeau as Ms . Honey and Ava Pavlick as Ms . Trunchbull .
Back To Her Roots
Liz Lester ' 14 is playing the role of Hunyak in the 25 th Anniversary Tour of Chicago , which included a performance at Portland ’ s Merrill Auditorium . Liz stopped by TA ’ s Johnson Dance Studio and taught a pair of Dance classes , sharing training tips and leading the students through a variety of routines . “ I always love passing on the knowledge and skills I ’ ve acquired ." says Liz . On top of that , TA holds such special space in my heart . It ’ s where I found musical theater and felt encouraged and supported to pursue dance as a career .”
