HONORING OUR PAST
TA football was a true powerhouse in the mid-1950s. The 1955 team, led by Captain Roger Spaulding(# 24) and Brad Leach(# 36), notched our second consecutive undefeated season, winning by an average of 23 points.
THEN & NOW...
Ellie( Arsenault) Agreste’ 10 is back at TA, coaching the girls’ soccer team that she once led to the state title game. She returns to our alma mater after coaching in Sanford for seven years.
As a player, Ellie led the Golden Trojans to victory in the Western Maine finals in 2009. She then attended the University of New England, where she earned a degree in exercise science and was a four-year starter and later assistant coach for the Nor ' easters.
Brad was named to the High School All-America Squad, and Roger was selected as Most Valuable High School Football player in the state. The two were joined by fellow seniors Fred Stackpole(# 44) and Norm Lombard(# 47) on the All- Conference Squad.
“ Ellie has a proven track record as a coach,” says Lance Johnson, TA’ s athletic director.“ She’ s very knowledgeable about the sport and has a great ability to connect with her players.”
First-year coaches Tracy( Palmitessa) Donilon’ 98 and Brock Major’ 01 led the TA Middle School softball team to an undefeated season this spring. During her time at TA, Tracy was a pitcher for the Golden Trojans, bringing her knowledge and experience to the coaching role. Brock was very active in athletics, too. After playing baseball as a youngster, he served as captain of the TA swim team and also competed in track and field for Thornton.
Cody Bowker ' 22 was selected by the Philadelphia Phillies in the Major League Baseball draft in July. Cody led the Golden Trojans to the Class A State Championship in 2022, and was also named the Maine Gatorade Player of the Year. He pitched two years |
at Georgetown University before transferring to Vanderbilt University last season. Thanks to what scouting reports called,“ one of the more unhittable fastballs in the Draft,” Cody was selected by the Phillies in the third round, the 100th overall pick. His next stop will be spring training in Florida. |
