CONGRATULATIONS , ALUMNI AWARD RECIPIENTS !

John Duross ’ 80 received the TA Alumni Association Public Service Award . John began serving The Saco Fire Department in high school as a Call Division Junior Firefighter and transitioned to a Regular Call Division Firefighter upon graduation . He was appointed to the Career Division in October of 1980 . John quickly rose to the rank of Captain , Deputy Chief , and was appointed Fire Chief in 2010 . In addition to his work advancing the Department , John has served as president of York County Fire Chiefs ’ Association , the Maine Fire Chiefs ’ Association , and the New England Division of the International Association of Fire Chiefs . In 2020 , he was named Maine Fire Chief of the year in 2020 by the Maine Fire Chiefs Association .
Susan ( Willey ) Marston ’ 62 received the Alumni Association ’ s UnSung Hero Award . After a 30-year teaching career , Sue has turned her energy to volunteering . She served as a member of the TA Alumni Association from 2006-2018 , where she first became involved in the annual Children ’ s Winter Carnival ( she has the best job – handing out prizes !). For more than a decade , Susan has joined other alumni prepping meals at the Saco Meals Program Soup Kitchen at Most Holy Trinity . At the holidays , you ’ ll find her and other alum Bell Ringers at Shaw ’ s Saco , raising money for the Salvation Army . Her nominator said , “ She consistently devotes countless hours and positive energy without any expectation of recognition . She ’ s the kind of individual that helps to buoy those around her .” 10
