KAREN MASTERS
DISMAS INDIZA
CLUB: MUMIAS SUGAR
TOURNAMENT SCORE: -4
I know much was expected from me
but I am contented with the way I
played. I have not performed well
at Karen over the last year having
missed the cut at the last two Kenya
Open events. I had set myself a
modest target of -10 for this year’s
KCB Karen Masters. Unfortunately
things did not go as per the script. I
was let down by poor putting since I
failed to master the greens well. The
greens were extremely fast especially
on the last two days. Karen is an
easy, though tricky course that calls
for meticulous game management.
The Sunshine tour will no doubt help
us improve our game. This is only the
second time the event has been held
in Kenya and you can already see our
local pros are upping their game. I
can assure you the game is headed
for good times especially with the
heightening interest from local
corporates. All the local pros who
had sponsors performed relatively
well at the Karen Masters. There’s
not so much difference between
our local pros and our South Africa
counterparts. I can assure you it will
not take long before our guys win
the Karen Masters tournament. I
have been on the scene for too long
and I would now like to pass the
baton to the young players. Having
turned 50 years old this year, my
focus now is to get on to the Seniors
Tour.
