Then there is mutuality, give him respect but also receive it, a person that doesn´t give you respect doesn´t deserve to be given respect. Be fair, look for a mutual agreement, not total destruction of your opponent or surrendering unconditionally, the best type of deals are the ones that end up with both parties smiling, because that will give them the opportunity to continue a good relationship that will benefit the two. Defend defend your own rights without violating the right of other people, basically, don’t let them walk all over you, and don´t use them as paving stones, go through the same road together. Pursue your goals openly, discover what you want to do and do it proudly. And finally accept responsibility for your mistakes, don´t try to find a scapegoat or push it to someone, take all of it with you and accept it looking forward not cowering in a corner or searching a way out.
