Message from the President Greetings, and thank you for continuing to support the Southwest Women’s Law Center. 2018 has been an incredible year for us as we collaborate with partners about state in advocating for women and girls in New Mexico. Our work in advancing the rights of women has been recognized on both a national and state level. Our Executive Director Pamelya Herndon was featured Essence magazine, an international women’s publication, in a story about the New Rule of Law and the women leading the efforts in that area. The Law Center’s staff attorneys and law clerks have been busy holding community meetings and presentations around the state on topics such as childcare assistance and the legal rights of pregnant and parenting teens. In addition to the Law Center’s work, we also proudly highlight the work of members in the community who advance the mission of the Southwest Women’s Law Center and help lift women and their families out of poverty. This year, we had the distinct honor of recognizing the contributions of Representative Gail Chasey, UNM Law School Professor David Stout, and Dr. Corrine Sanchez, the Executive Director of Tewa Women United at our 7 th Annual Celebrating Women’s Stories Gala. All three of our honorees are outstanding advocates for women and strong leaders in our community for women’s rights. We Salute and Congratulate them! We have an ambitious agenda for the remainder of the year and I encourage you to follow the Southwest Women’s Law Center on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to stay current on our activities, events, and accomplishments. Thank you for your continued support.
