people & happenings RECENT EVENTS 1 2 4 5 1 On October 12, Meg Winslow, Mount Auburn’s Curator of Historical Collections, hosted a tour for the Boston Museum of Fine Arts Associates. Here the group is pictured at Lot 3904 Holly Path at the grave of General Charles Greely Loring (1828-1902), MFA curator and director (with the MFA logo on his monument). 2 On October 18, we held our second annual Sustainability Fair. Attendees met with Mount Auburn staff, walked through the newly renovated Asa Gray Garden, and learned about some of our green efforts, including a Green landscape equipment demo pictured here. 3 On October 23 & 24, Mount Auburn hosted the National Park Service for their Regional Meeting at the newly revitalized Bigelow Chapel. 3 6 4 On November 3, musician and educator David Coffin joined Mount Auburn docent Stephen Pinkerton as they visited the graves of residents with nautical connections while singing sea chanteys. 5 On November 4, Visitor Services Assistant Jim Gorman led his annual Fall Foliage walking tour for a large group of happy leaf-peepers. 6 Reverend Joy Fallon, Senior Minister of King’s Chapel Boston, and Reverend Jennifer D. Beal, Priest-in-Charge at St. John’s Church, Sharon, MA, were the speakers at our annual Candle Lighting Service in Story Chapel on December 19. 16
