Sweet Auburn Magazine 2023 Vol. 1 SA_spring_23_web | Page 10

Today , I continue going to the Cemetery to photograph the latest sensation , whatever it may be , such as the famous leucistic Song Sparrow that the whole local ornithological community was excited about in April 2023 . I ’ ve also had my share of failures . Last year was great for Barred Owls , but despite many days of looking , I haven ’ t found a single one in 2023 thus far . And I have yet to find one of my favorite birds , an American Woodcock , which people keep spotting at Mount Auburn Cemetery — and they sure let me know — but not me ! After several days of searching , I was able to find one not too far from the Cemetery but I can ’ t count it among my Mount Auburn birds . Mount Auburn Cemetery continues to be first on the list of places I go before or after work , always looking to spot the latest exciting bird at my favorite Cemetery .
