A stage of our ambitious Indian Ridge Habitat Restoration is complete . The area was opened back up to visitors this fall , as we shift our focus

to maintaining the new landscape — an essential step for everything to grow , establish , and thrive in the coming years .
The harsh droughts and heat of the past summer made planting a challenge , reinforcing the importance of Mount Auburn ’ s commitment to building our landscape ’ s resiliency in the face of climate change . Over 10,000 plants were stored at our nursery for the hottest summer months and cared for there until they could be installed in mid-August , and our team added creative new irrigation systems to the area to support everything once it was in the ground . These experiences will inform our approach to future planting projects as well , so that we can be as prepared as possible for the extreme weather conditions that are becoming more common .
Challenges notwithstanding , we are thrilled to have completed our largest landscape rehabilitation project to date . In total , we have covered almost five acres of land and installed over 26,000 trees , shrubs , and perennials in just three years .
Thank you again to the friends and supporters who have made this project possible ! We hope you will visit and explore the new landscape over these coming years , to watch as it fully establishes and transforms this important corridor .
