INVESTING IN THE ARTS A Conversation with Pamela and Don Michaelis

By Anna Moir , Grants & Communications Manager ear after year , we have had the privilege of seeing

Y how Mount Auburn ’ s landscape and history inspire creativity and high-quality artistic work across many disciplines . It is a priority for us to partner with talented artists and to give our audiences opportunities to connect with their work through our artist residency and other public programming .

Pamela and Don Michaelis first recognized Mount Auburn ’ s value as a space for the arts in 2019 when they attended Artist-in-Residence Patrick Gabridge ’ s The Nature Plays . They are also very aware , through years of experience , that curating innovative and thought-provoking art installations and programs is a serious commitment — one that requires significant resources to be effective . With that in mind , they have made a five-year gift to Mount Auburn ’ s arts and cultural programming — the largest investment in that side of our mission we have ever received .
