10 Commandments for a Healtier Diet

Ever thought to yourself- how can I improve my diet for a healthier lifestyle? Well, here's your lucky day- here are 10 simple commandments for nutrition that can help you keep your diet on the healthy side, and also improve your own health.

1)Make sure you’ve got all your essential nutrients for every meal- protein, carbohydrates, fibers, sugars, fats, and calcium.

DO

eat a balanced meal with all nutrients present

DON'T

Concentrate on getting only a few of these nutrients- you need them all!

Your body needs several different nutrients to keep it functioning healthily. Carbohydrates, sugars, and fats provide you with energy, fibers help you feel full, protein to help your body grow and develop new cells, and calcium to keep your bones and teeth strong. Don't skimp and miss out on any of these!

2)Meat is a great source of protein and in red meats, iron- but remember to keep your consumption of white and dark meats balanced. Alternatively, for vegetarians and vegans, beans are a great source for both protein and iron.

DO:

Consume foods that can provide you with iron and protein.

DON'T:

Focus on consuming only red meats/ protein/iron- rich foods- you need both iron and protein!

Iron helps to make oxygen-carrying proteins in your blood and muscles to help keep you moving and your blood circulation flowing correctly. Protein is an essential to all your cells, and neither should be skipped out on.
