Preparing for Your Procedure
Before Your Procedure
If you are sick: If you have a cold, temperature of 100 ° F or higher, rash, open wound, or an infection of any kind, please notify your doctor’ s office before coming in for procedure.
Shower immediately before your procedure: Follow your doctor’ s specific bathing instructions or any additional instructions you receive from your PreAdmit nurse.
• Shower or bathe with an antibacterial soap( i. e., Dial Soap) the night prior or the morning before your arrival. Antibacterial soap can be purchased at most grocery or drug stores.
• Use a clean towel to dry off.
• Do not put on any makeup, lotions, oils, creams, powders, or perfume / cologne.
• Remember to brush your teeth.
• Do not shave anywhere on your body for 24-48 hours prior to your procedure. These precautions decrease your risk of infection.
Additional Infection Prevention measures: Depending on the type of procedure, our pre-op team may have you take extra steps to help reduce the risk of infection. These may include using special antiseptic body wipes, an antiseptic nasal swab to clean the inside of your nose and using a special oral rinse before procedure.
Clothing: Plan to wear loose fitting, comfortable clothing that is easy to put on and take off. Do not wear jeans. Wear a button-down shirt for upper body procedures.
Remove: All body piercings and jewelry, including toe rings. You will be asked to remove dentures or removable partials prior to your procedure. A denture cup will be provided.
Please do not bring:
• Valuables, such as jewelry.
• Contact lenses are not advised to wear on the day of your procedure. If you do not have glasses, bring a contact lens case and solution with you.
Necessary belongings to bring:
• Insurance card( s) and driver’ s license.
• Updated medication list if anything has changed since your PreAdmit appointment.
• Form of payment if you have not already paid.
• Glasses and hearing aids.
• If you wish to bring something to read or have an electronic device with ear buds, a locker will be provided. Please bring carrying cases for these items. Renown is not responsible for lost or damaged items.
Oxygen / CPAP: If you are on home Oxygen, CPAP or BiPap and have a portable tank / unit, please bring your portable tank or unit with you. Please remember to bring your settings for your device.
Pacemaker / AICDs / Stimulators: Please bring your pacemaker card or your controller for any stimulators you have implanted the day of procedure.
Underage patients: Patients less than 18 years of age must have a responsible adult present in the facility until discharged home. ** Please make childcare arrangements for other minor children. **
Legal guardian: If applicable, a parent or legal guardian must be available to sign the procedure consent form. A legal guardian is required to show proof of guardianship.
