Preparing for Your Procedure

The following patient education is for your safety and should be followed so your procedure is not delayed or cancelled. We want to ensure you are well informed and comfortable.
Before Your Procedure
PreAdmit:
• Our registration team will contact you to set up your PreAdmit appointment with a Registered Nurse.
• The PreAdmit appointment will be completed over the phone and may take up to 45 minutes to complete. Expect a call from 775-982-4100. If you have accidentally blocked a Renown phone number in the past, our call may go straight to voicemail or not ring through. If you do not hear from our nurse within 5 minutes of your scheduled appointment time, please call us at 775-982-3993, Opt. 2; then Opt. 1.
• If you have completed the health questionnaire in MyChart prior to the appointment, it will take less time to complete the phone call.
• We ask that during this appointment you have your medication list available and are free from distractions.
• You may need to have a pen and paper ready to write down instructions or questions.
• The nurse will set up a separate testing appointment if you are required to have any testing prior to your procedure.

Confirm procedure check-in time: Your check-in time comes from your doctor’ s office. If you have not received a check-in time for the day of your procedure, please call your doctor’ s office to obtain this information.
Diet:
• Do not eat food, or drink liquids that you cannot see through, after midnight prior to your procedure.
• You may have clear liquids( including water, apple juice, or 7-UP) until 3 hours prior to procedure( up to 16 oz.). Or, per provider’ s instructions.
• If you are currently on gastric tube feeds, you may continue until 8 hours prior to procedure.
• If meals are through a surgically placed post-pyloric tube, you may continue until you arrive for procedure.
• Bowel-preparation patients: please follow the prep instructions provided by your doctor.
For your safety, your procedure may be cancelled or delayed if you have consumed any food or fluids outside of what is ordered above.
Vitamins, herbal supplements, and weight loss medications, including Phentermine and GLP-1 medications including Ozempic( Semiglutide) and Zepbound( Tirzepitide):
• Stop taking all vitamins or herbal supplements 7 days prior to procedure. It is recommended that weight loss medications including Phentermine and GLP-1 medications, including Ozempic( Semaglutide) and Zepbound, Mounjaro( Tirzepatide), should be held 7 days before the procedure.
