ARLINGTON POLICE DEPARTMENT
HISPANIC CITIZENS POLICE ACADEMY
GRADUATION
Thirteen Arlington citizens graduated from the 43rd Hispanic Citizen Police Academy on November 20th. The eight-
week course covered the Arlington Police Department, specialized units, and other departments and units APD works
with. Students learned about procedural justice, crime prevention, economic crimes and code enforcement. Topics
included, among others, 9-1-1 communications, our Mounted and K-9 units, and SWAT. This training helped them to
gain a better understanding of how the police department and city work. Chief Johnson addressed the graduating
class, speaking on how their participation helps form better and stronger relationships with the police department.
Lissette Tejeda spoke on behalf of her class, stating that the class was very grateful for the instructors who came
to speak to them and that they learned an extraordinary amount of information over the eight weeks. Many close
relationships were formed during the eight-week course between police, citizens and the community.
