GOGREEN CAMPAIGN OMTOM officially launched its # GOGREEN campaign in 2017 – an anti-littering movement coupled with a waste management plan that offers a sustainable way to collect and process the non-organic waste generated during race week. MEDICAL EMERGENCIES It is imperative that runners fill in the medical information on the back of their race number. Should a runner require hospital treatment or ambulance transport, he / she will be charged according to the hospital tariff rate. Also, please memorise this number, 021 937 0324, in the case of a medical emergency. Information relating to runners who have been admitted to the Medical Tent will be available at the Information Tent next to the finish.
MEETING PLACE AT THE FINISH Ahead of race day, please make sure you arrange a specific meeting place to meet your supporters at the finish. The most suitable venue would be at the dedicated meeting points.
MUSIC There are a number of bands along the routes, as well as music at various refreshment stations. Feel free to sing and dance along, and smile as much as possible to thank them for coming out to support you. Please also note that any excessively loud music played in backpacks, through music players or car radios by either participants or supporters, will be moderated in compliance with the City of Cape Town bylaws.
MISUSE OF RACE NUMBERS AND RACETEC TIMING CHIPS Runners MAY NOT TRANSFER their race numbers and / or timing chips to other runners. Any runner who is found guilty of breaking this rule will be banned from the race for one year, in addition to them being disqualified from the current year. This is an important safety measure and in the interests of your safety!
PARKING Parking at UCT and near the start is very limited. Runners are advised to share lifts to the start and to be dropped off within walking distance. You will only be able to park at UCT if you have a pre-paid parking ticket. If you have purchased a pre-paid parking ticket it will be placed in your race pack. No parking is allowed on the M3 and anyone parking in contravention of road signs will be ticketed. There is a free Shuttle Service to the various parking areas. Parking maps and information will be available to view at the Expo and on the OMTOM website, www. twooceansmarathon. org. za.
PACESETTERS A number of runners will be kitted out as pacesetters and will carry flags letting you know at what time they will be completing the race. Please join a group that suits your pace and share in the fun and spirit that they inspire.
PHYSIOTHERAPY STATIONS There will be a number of physio stations along the route and at the finish.
PRAMS, STROLLERS OR PETS Prams, strollers or pets are not permitted in the Trail Runs, 21km or 56km events.
PRIZE-GIVING Prize-giving will take place at the UCT Finish:
• 21km at 08h30
• 56km at 12h00
There will be a“ Winners’ Circle” situated at the Finish Marquee where all age category winners will receive their category medal and be photographed. The category prizes are NOT included in the main prize-giving.
