WACONIA
COMMUNITY | GUIDE 2025
Library is vital community resource
Whatever the resource, you’ ll find it at the Waconia Library, which will be celebrating the 19th anniversary of the opening at the current location in August 2023.
The library’ s collection continues to grow, offering books, periodicals, DVDs and other items. The collection also boasts unique materials such as learning stations and STEM kits for children as well as brain fitness kits for adults. Residents can check on the availability of items and find more information at www. carverlib. org For materials not found in the library’ s catalog, the MNlink inter-library loan service will frequently be able to provide the item from other Minnesota libraries.
With financial support from the Friends of the Library, the“ Your Lucky Day” collection provides a browsing collection of high-demand titles. Readers will have the opportunity to avoid long wait periods for these titles and have a“ Your Lucky Day” experience.
The Waconia Library facility provides 16 computers available for public use, plus a scanner and a fax / photocopier. In addition to on-site technology, the library offers a wide range of online research materials through the web site www. carverlib. org Using a Carver County Library card,
users can download onto their portable device eBooks and eMagazines to read, as well as eAudiobooks for listening.
Story times for families with pre-K children are regularly scheduled five times per week. School age children have special events during the school year and a great series of summer reading program activities in June, July and August. There are also literary and cultural events throughout the year for adults and families.
The Friends of the Waconia Library is a nonprofit, all-volunteer group dedicated to the betterment of the library. One of their ongoing services is running a gently-used book store at the library. The group also holds book sales during the year to benefit the library, including the large, annual book sale during community’ s Nickle Dickle Day in September.
