GENERAL MANAGER Dear Members, Just like that the summer has come to an end and September is here! This month we look forward to some relief from the summer’s heat and humidity. As the temperatures start to fall, we begin looking for our seasonal friends to return. It’s also the time of year that we need to keep an eye on the tropics to make sure we are prepared if a pesky storm wants to come our way. So far, we have dodged a couple of these severe storms. In addition, September is the month our maintenance team is working hard on finishing up summer projects and our golf team starts the membership renewal process. We are hopeful that our efforts to improve the Club over the summer will be met with great satisfaction by you the member. We have completed a large tree pruning project on Deer Run. This has given many oak trees and some pine trees around the course a much-needed lift. This gives the turf more sunlight and more room to hit shots for playability. It also helps protect the trees from strong winds in the chance of a hurricane. There will be more tree work completed on Turtle Run and around the facility this month. In addition, Turtle Run #14 has received a much-needed facelift. Over the years, the fairway across the bridge has slowly eroded into the pond due to surface runoff. This Fairway has now been reshaped and much needed drainage has been installed to prevent further erosion in the future. Next on the list will be Turtle #16 to correct this same issue by the pond. Yesterday, we sent you an email with a link to the membership packet and renewal form. Today or tomorrow, we are mailing you the renewal form and the associations’ sign up forms (MGA & WGA) with the monthly statement. Please return the renewal form with payment and be all set and ready to go on October 1st when our new fiscal year begins. We are still offering a 2.3% discount if you pay your dues with cash or a check. Please note two changes for this year’s membership: as of January 31, 2020, the Club no longer accepts credit book or gift certificates for membership dues. Also, the 10% discount in the restaurant will discontinue starting October 1st, 2020. You will still receive a 10% discount in the golf shop on non-sale items. We are looking forward to starting our new restaurant menu program in October. As I mentioned last month, we will continue our weekly signature dishes as they have been a huge hit! The menu will also feature monthly specials that will change accordingly. Daily specials will also remain in the program. All of this will keep the menu fresh and give you a new experience every time you dine with us. The pandemic has certainly changed all our lives forever. However, I am thankful that golf has always been a game that brings us together, even in these times of staying apart. Cheers, Michael LaMere General Manager 4
