City council
candidacy
A member of several
community organizations
has announced her candi-
dacy for the Bloomington
City Council.
Jenna Carter will seek
the at-large seat on No-
vember’s ballot. Carter,
who is a member of the
Bloomington
Housing
Coalition, the Volun-
teers Enlisted to Assist
People Board of Direc-
tors, Bloomington’s natu-
rally occurring affordable
housing workgroup, the
Partners to End Hunger
Coalition and the Trans-
portation Forward Coali-
tion, announced her can-
didacy with a campaign
kick-off Feb. 18.
“I am running because
Bloomington is an incred-
ible city with tremendous
assets and resources, but
there is opportunity to be
even better. I believe every
person living in our city
should have the opportu-
nity to thrive and be a part
of the decision-making
processes that moves this
city forward,” she said in
her announcement.
Carter lives in Bloom-
ington with her husband
Mike and two children.
She earned a bachelor’s
degree in nutritional sci-
ence from Iowa State
University and a master’s
degree from the School
of Public Health at the
University of Minne-
sota. She was award-
ed a 2018 Humphrey
School of Public Affairs
policy fellowship.

gram is planned during
this week’s meeting of
the John Prescott chapter
of the Daughters of the
American Revolution.
The discussion of
“Mary Ann’s Journey
Through Breast Cancer”
