Fergus Falls provides artist’s inspiration
Prints and drawings of
common natural occur-
rences are part of a new
exhibit at Bloomington
Center for the Arts.
“A Minnesota Rookery:
Prints and Drawings from
Fergus Falls” by St. Paul
artist Laura Corcoran is
on display through April
24, in the Atrium Gallery
of the arts center, 1800 W.
Old Shakopee Road.
Using printmaking as
her medium – primarily
linocuts, lithographs, and
monoprints – Corcoran’s
images are informed by
both her study and ob-
servations of natural
phenomena and the chal-
lenges posed by her own
actions and the actions of
her species.
In 2009 Corcoran re-
ceived an M.F.A. in print-
making from the Univer-
sity of Minnesota. She is
an elementary art teacher
and runs a small print
business with her hus-
band.
The gallery display is
open 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
weekdays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Saturdays and 1-10 p.m.
Sundays.
