1751 – CMA Compliance The assignment reviewed the way University of Essex is approaching compliance to the Competition and Marketing Authority (CMA) guidance, looking at the approach taken to governance, policy and practices, in comparison with other institutions. We developed a framework for assessing the various areas impacted by CMA compliance and identified best practice by drawing on findings around the sector. 1753 – Lean Facilitators Workshop SUMS has been working with the University of Essex for a number of years supporting the development of Lean processes, Lean facilitation skills and the University’s Lean Hub. We were asked by the University to help them further develop and deliver our Lean training, focusing on professional services managers who will lead Lean reviews. The one-day Lean facilitators workshop provided participants with core Lean understanding, knowledge and skills. In addition to the Lean skills, the workshop concentrated on facilitation skills to equip these managers with the confidence and knowledge to lead rapid improvement events. We supported the University’s Lean Hub to bespoke the materials to work for the University with a view to the University taking this forward with limited external support. 1780 – Critical Friend to Change Team We are providing support and guidance in the next stages of development of the Strategic Project Office, through on-going mentoring and advice. With the well-established team at University of Essex growing and evolving, and a prioritised set of goals for future initiatives, we act as a ‘critical friend’ drawing upon our experience of similar projects and change functions at other institutions.
