WOW! What a ride! The 2016 NALA Conference was held July 13th through the 15th at the Las Vegas Paris Hotel. Melissa Hamilton, ACP, Melissa Klimpel, ACP, and I attended from WDALA. The conference was jam packed with board meetings, annual meetings, affiliated association meetings, affiliated presentations, awards ceremonies, vendor exhibits, affiliated association exhibits, voting for the current officers, installation of officers, receptions, and, of course, continuing education! All that in three days’ time!
NALA held an opening reception and began registration on Tuesday evening to kick off the conference. This was a time to catch up with old friends, meet new friends, and get ready for the conference to begin.
NALA changed things up this year as far as scheduling, CLE certification, and the conference app. All of the business meetings – opening session, annual meeting, affiliated associations meetings and presentations, and member awards – were held on the opening day along, with the first of the numerous educational sessions.
This year Melissa Hamilton was being challenged in her run for the NALA Secretary position and Melissa Klimpel was also opposed in her re-bid as Regional Director. Voting took place from the beginning of the conference through noon
on Thursday. I am very pleased to say that both Melissas won their positions and are, once again, serving on the NALA Board of Directors. Congratulations to you both!!!
