A straight line between two points may be the shortest distance between two points...
…but it is by no means the most interesting”
No matter what other job I hold in the future, I hope that I can replicate and experience the camaraderie that I have in this office. I once described my group of coworkers as a “classic great big dysfunctional family” and I still believe that description to be true. Sean and I fight like little kids when we run into each other, making at least one jab at each other during each encounter, but at the same time I know that if I ever need anything I can find him and he’ll gladly help. Emily and Grace are some of the sweetest people I know and have welcomed me in from day one. They’ve helped me with everything from keeping me up to date on everything that I miss due to my lack of an official email to getting me through security to just allowing me to escape mid-day boredom through a leisurely chat with them. No matter how “high” someone’s position is in the office, they are always willing to do everything that I as an intern am doing. When we went to send out a mailing, every single employee in the office gathered into a room to place stamps on over 800 envelopes. Office heads, chiefs of staff/treasury/communications/finance, interns, and everyone else gathered round for what we coined as a “team bonding exercise”. It was probably some of the most fun I’ve experienced stamping envelopes, full of jokes, loud music, and sarcasm.
On days when our office is full of work and dealing with a constant inflow of information are the days when I feel the most inspired and do my best work.
