Experience what life was like growing up on the prairie in the 1800s. We ' ll get to know several women from history, as we learn about the traditional roles they were bound by, how these women broke the rules, and their important contributions that helped shape our world today. The Kennicott Girls Club combines history and STEM-based education in a fun, immersive program that lets kids try new things, develop confidence and think outside the box.

Experience the only tour at The Grove that gets you inside all the buildings. Not only will you experience spectacular views of nature, you will also learn more about The Grove ' s rich history as we hike to and go inside the Native American Indian Village, the Pioneer Log Cabin, the Blacksmith ' s Shop, School House, and the Historic 1856 Kennicott House. This is a relatively easy hike accessible to a wide range of walkers and a great way to learn about and appreciate the flora and fauna of Illinois and the history of The Grove.

Celebrate National Moth Week with an illuminating evening of Mothing 101! Discover why moths are some of nature ' s most important( and misunderstood) pollinators. Learn how to attract and observe moths using light sheets and simple techniques you can try at home. We ' ll explore moth life cycles, adaptations, and how to identify common local species. Drop-off program.

Make a lasting memory as you learn how to use the tools of a blacksmith ' s forge, hammer, tongs and anvil to create a railroad spike bottle opener this Father ' s Day. Adults work side by side with their young apprentices. Price is per pair. Refreshments provided.
